Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Day – Kilimanjaro International Airport – Arusha – Welcome to Tanzania (1 hour)

Your Tanzanian adventure begins as you touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK). On a clear day, you may catch a glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak from the tarmac. You will be warmly welcomed by your private guide and transferred to your charming coffee plantation retreat in Arusha, a vibrant city nestled at the foot of Mount Meru. Settle into your accommodation and enjoy a safari briefing to prepare you for the adventures ahead, followed by a delicious welcome dinner featuring exquisite Tanzanian cuisine.

After breakfast, you will depart Arusha and drive towards the Ngorongoro Highlands, ascending the Great Rift Valley escarpment with breathtaking views along the way. The journey takes you through the cool, green highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing traditional Maasai villages and lush farmland. You will arrive at your lodge in the Karatu area in the late afternoon, nestled in the highlands overlooking the conservation area. The remainder of the day is yours to relax, acclimatize, and enjoy the serene mountain air, preparing for your descent into the crater tomorrow.

You will start this day very early with a dawn descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations. This 22.5 km-wide volcanic caldera is a self-contained ecosystem teeming with approximately 30,000 animals, including the Big Five. You will spend a full day exploring the crater floor, with high chances of spotting lions, hyenas, elephants, buffalo, and the critically endangered Black Rhino—making this a prime location for rhino tracking and photography. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, with the towering crater walls forming your spectacular backdrop, while capturing stunning images of flamingos dotting the soda lakes. In the late afternoon, you will ascend the steep crater walls and return to your lodge in Karatu.

After breakfast, you will depart the Ngorongoro Highlands and travel through the conservation area toward Serengeti National Park. You will enter the park via Naabi Hill Gate, where the trees disappear and the “endless plains” stretch before you. Your destination is the Eastern Serengeti, home to dramatic landscapes of ancient granite kopjes and sweeping valleys. You will spend the afternoon on game drives in the Soit Le Mont and Gol Kopjes region, areas renowned for their predator populations. Position yourself for exceptional photography at golden hour, capturing cheetahs using termite mounds as vantage points and lions lounging on the rocky outcrops.
